As of the end of August, the China-ASEAN AI Innovation Cooperation Center in Nanning, Guangxi, had signed 51 domestic projects and 16 ASEAN-based projects, local authorities said.
Amid swift progress in AI technology, Guangxi is advancing the center's development by designating a 7.78-square-kilometer core zone in Nanning as a focal point and setting up branch centers in ASEAN countries and major Chinese cities. This strengthens AI-driven connections between China and ASEAN economies.
Utilizing the China-ASEAN Information Harbor and Nanning International Communications Gateway Bureau, the center is developing secure data spaces, international data centers, and platforms for application demonstrations and global partnerships. The construction of its exhibition and incubation zones is advancing steadily.
Nanning, a key center for China-ASEAN cooperation, aspires to establish itself as a leading hub for the AI industry in the region. The center serves multiple roles: a public service portal, an exhibition platform, a management hub, and a platform for capital support for bilateral AI collaborations.
By late August, the collection included more than 450 AI application cases across smart healthcare, transportation, and social governance. It also published over 100 opportunity lists, featuring more than 30 domestic cases and 60 ASEAN scenarios. Selected outstanding cases will be exhibited at the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo in mid-September.
