The 2025 Asia Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Summit took place in Nanning from Aug 21 to 25, drawing over 300 experts, practitioners, policymakers and scholars from 11 countries and regions, such as Vietnam, Malaysia, France, Singapore and the UK.
During the summit, participants discussed core principles and emerging trends in key areas, including mediation, arbitration, online dispute resolution (ODR) and hybrid mechanisms.
Their talks were aimed at offering insights into the building of a first-class market-oriented, law-based and international dispute resolution environment.
A major highlight was the signing of a historic tripartite cooperation agreement. The ASEAN Law Association, China-ASEAN Commercial Arbitration Cooperation Center and Nanning Arbitration Commission (Nanning International Arbitration Court) joined hands to improve the China-ASEAN commercial arbitration mechanism and enhance its credibility.
The summit also saw unveiling of the Mediation Center of the Nanning International Arbitration Court and release of the ODR system of the Asia Multi-Resolution Research Institute, while a training session was held for a group of International Mediation Institute (IMI)-certified international mediators.
Additionally, 22 international cooperation agreements were signed to advance cross-border dispute resolution, legal exchanges, and talent development.
