Guilin has experienced an increase in international tourists, thanks to China's visa-free policy. Its unique scenery and accessible services have also received widespread acclaim from visitors worldwide.

Data from the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region indicates a significant increase in the city's inbound tourism.

In the first half of 2025, Guilin welcomed 674,500 overnight inbound visitors and generated $263 million in international tourism revenue, reflecting increases of 79.7 percent and 82.4 percent year on year.

On Aug 22, an Italian tour group visited Reed Flute Cave in Guilin and shared their positive experiences of traveling visa-free.

Group member Napoli mentioned that they traveled from Chengdu to Guilin by high-speed rail, highlighting China's efficient transportation network, which left a strong impression. "It makes travel so easy. I would definitely extend my stay to explore more of China's charm if time permits," she said.

Inside the cave, colored lights highlighted ancient karst formations. Guides shared insights into the cave's geological history and the stories behind its striking rock formations. The unique stalactites, stone curtains, and stalagmites, combined with the lighting, fascinated the Italian visitors, who captured photos to document the natural beauty.

Another tourist, Andrea, said Guilin is well known in Europe for its unique landscapes and rich culture. "We've wanted to experience the Lijiang River, Yangshuo's beauty, and Reed Flute Cave in person," he said.

He mentioned that Guilin exceeded expectations after the trip, especially highlighting the unforgettable Lijiang River cruise, which offered a peaceful grandeur unlike Italy.
