Musical Echoes of Kulangsu to be staged in Guangxi

The acclaimed musical Echoes of Kulangsu is set to captivate audiences at the Grand Theatre of Guangxi Culture and Art Center, with performances scheduled for 8 pm on Sept 12 and 13.

Headlined by renowned actor Ma Jia, the production draws inspiration from the stories of overseas Chinese on Kulangsu Island.

Centered on the themes of "an island, a group of people, a piano, and a home," it follows Wu Qiming, an overseas-based musician, as he searches for "the first piano owned by a Chinese person on Kulangsu" — a quest that reignites his sense of faith and belonging.

The musical artfully portrays the deep patriotism of overseas Chinese, weaving a moving, time-spanning narrative that honors their legacy.

With exquisite music, striking stage design, elaborate costumes, and dynamic choreography, it promises a rich audio-visual experience.

Joining Ma Jia on stage are talented performers including Sun Gechuanye, Zhao Muchen, Xu Lidong, Ming Jiaxin, and members of the Xiamen Song and Dance Theatre, ensuring a performance of exceptional artistic caliber and emotional depth.
