The 5th Lancang-Mekong Metrology Cooperation Meeting was held in Nanning, Guangxi, from July 29 to 30, themed "promoting clean energy cooperation for regional green and sustainable development".
Over 130 attendees attended, including officials from six Lancang-Mekong countries (China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam), as well as experts from Germany, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and delegates from 16 Chinese provincial market regulators, metrology institutions, and enterprises.
Key outcomes included the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) renewing bilateral agreements with Thailand and Vietnam. The six countries established three-year objectives in clean energy metrology, emphasizing capacity development, traceability systems, and mutual recognition.
Specialized sessions on EV charging and photovoltaic sectors took place, including visits to Guangxi's metrology labs and Nanning's energy station. After the meetings, technical teams from five Mekong countries are poised to be trained in Nanning, Suzhou, and Beijing on clean energy metrics such as EV chargers and solar equipment.
Hosted by NIM and Guangxi's market regulator, the event enhances regional connections, broadens ASEAN collaboration, and promotes high-quality Belt and Road development.
