Guangxi is now developing its tourism market in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) through cultural exchanges, promotional campaigns, and travel incentives, local media outlets reported on April 27.
Throughout April, over 130 Hong Kong students arrived in Nanning by high-speed rail, marking the start of a cultural exchange program. This reflects growing tourism ties, with GBA overnight visitors to Guangxi surging 30.06 percent year-on-year to 75,000 this year.
Guangxi has launched tailored tourism products to attract more visitors, including study tours featuring natural landscapes and cultural heritage. At a recent investment forum in Shenzhen, Guangxi secured deals for health tourism and smart tourism projects.
Discounts are also a key strategy. From April to December this year, 58 Guangxi scenic spots are set to offer discounted tickets to residents of five Guangdong cities. Hong Kong and Macao tourists also enjoy 50 percent off at 22 border attractions, including Detian Waterfall.
Improved transport links further boost accessibility. Since mid-April, direct flights from Hong Kong to Guilin resumed, and new high-speed rail tours brought nearly 5,000 Hong Kong tourists to Guilin.
In Q1 2025, Guangxi hosted over 36 million non-local tourists, with GBA visitors exceeding 10 million, up 9.25 percent year-on-year.
