Qinzhou, Palencia in Spain sign cooperation agreement

Qinzhou, Guangxi, and Palencia, Spain, signed a letter of intent to establish friendship city relations and a friendly cooperation agreement on March 24, aiming to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two cities for mutual development.

Qinzhou is a coastal canal city, and its port handled over 200 million metric tons of cargo last year. The completion of the Pinglu Canal will enhance its river-sea intermodal transport capabilities.

Known for its historical significance, the city is famous for its oysters and lychees as well as a natural habitat for the Chinese white dolphin. Its green chemical industry has surpassed an output value of 100 billion yuan ($13.77 billion).

This visit marks Miriam Andrés Prieto, mayor of Palencia's, first to Qinzhou, where she was impressed by the city's hospitality and dynamism. She noted Palencia's rich cultural heritage, convenient transportation, and thriving food industry.

Palencia also intended to participate in the China-ASEAN Expo to enhance exchanges and achieve breakthroughs in practical cooperation.
