Residents of Qixing district, Guilin, Guangxi, gathered at the banks of the Lijiang River in Zizhou Park to celebrate the Guangxi Sanyuesan Festival on March 20. The event featured people from various ethnic groups singing traditional songs while drifting on bamboo rafts and engaging with tourists and locals on the shore. This marked the beginning of the district's multi-ethnic celebration of the festival.
The event also featured an intangible cultural heritage experience area. Visitors enjoyed demonstrations of traditional crafts such as sugar painting, oil tea making, and Zhuang brocade weaving, all of which brought joy to attendees.
A 50-meter-long banquet table showcased ethnic delicacies like five-colored sticky rice, oil tea, fruits, and glutinous rice wine. The unique toasting ceremony surprised and delighted international guests, who enjoyed the ethnic performances and cuisine, fully immersing themselves in the festive atmosphere of the Guangxi Sanyuesan Festival.
Students from Guilin University of Technology, Guilin Guolong Foreign Language School, and Guilin Chenshan Primary School participated in a folk sports event. Guided by their teachers, they performed the bamboo pole dance, with many tourists joining in to experience this aspect of Guangxi's ethnic culture.
Qixing district in Guilin has used traditional festivals as platforms to conduct diverse ethnic and cultural activities across streets, schools, communities, and village committees, utilizing traditional Chinese culture, ethnic culture, and intangible cultural heritage.
