The Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced that an agricultural delegation visited Vietnam from Feb 19 to 22 to explore directions for smart agriculture cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation met with the officials from Quang Ninh province, Vietnam, and conducted inspections of fisheries bases, new rural developments, import-export companies, and cattle farms. The purpose of the visit was to deepen understanding of agricultural advancements in Quang Ninh province and explore potential cooperation projects.
Of note, agricultural trade between Guangxi and Vietnam reached 20.02 billion yuan ($2.76 billion) in 2024. Guangxi has played a pivotal role in facilitating the construction of smart ports along the China-Vietnam border, ensuring the smooth transportation of large quantities of Vietnamese fruits through various ports in Guangxi to destinations across China.
In a recent development, Guangxi signed a memorandum of agricultural cooperation with Quang Ninh, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, and Lang Son provinces in Vietnam. This agreement focuses on promoting smart agriculture, expanding agricultural trade and investment, fostering agricultural science and technology talent, and improving pest and disease control for both plants and animals, as well as fisheries.
