A delegation of 15 envoys from 10 countries visited Yulin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, from Feb 10 to 13, immersing themselves in local culture and exploring the city's industrial and urban development.
Yulin is an essential industrial base in southeast Guangxi, known for its clusters in equipment manufacturing, new materials, pharmaceuticals, green food, and textiles. It is also a vital logistics city of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
Envoys marveled at the well-preserved wooden structure at Zhenwu Pavilion in Rongxian county, known as one of the four great towers of ancient South China.
Rogerio Paulo Chaves, counselor of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in China, spoke highly of the well-preserved wooden building and noted that he was eager to take pictures of it and share them with friends.
In the 500-year-old Pengdong village in Yuzhou district, diplomats enjoyed traditional music performances and experienced intangible cultural heritage activities like paper-cutting and herbal sachet making.
