Two instant luosifen (or river snail rice noodles) products of Guangxi Luobawang Food Technology obtained international halal certification on Jan 17 with the help of the China-ASEAN Business Center.
It marks the first global halal certification for luosifen issued by the Majelis Ulama Indonesia's Badan Penanggulangan Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH), which is one of the most authoritative halal certification bodies globally.
Getting the halal certification has been a vital pathway for food exporters to enter Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, and Western markets, capturing larger market shares. Southeast Asia, with its significant Muslim population, imports substantial amounts of halal food annually.
The Middle East is a major market for halal products, with strong demand, and the European halal market also holds great potential. An authoritative halal certification can open doors to Muslim markets and serve as a high-standard entry pass to premium food markets in Europe and the United States.
The global halal food trade is estimated at $150 billion annually. By 2030, Muslims are expected to make up 26.4 percent of the global population, with over 2.2 billion halal food consumers. The global halal food trade is projected to account for over 25 percent of the global food market, prompting food producers worldwide to seize opportunities in the lucrative halal market.
