Jin Dong, head of the China Coal Mine Art Troupe and committee member of the Guilin Festival, recently spoke about the unique experience of performing outdoors in Guilin.

He emphasized how the natural setting shifts the connection between artists and audiences, creating a more immersive, intimate experience. He said he hopes to explore more theater projects in Guilin’s scenic landscapes.

With performances set in "Mountain," "Water," and "Cave" theaters, the festival, running through Nov 3, has transformed Guilin into an open-air theater. Jin envisions the festival becoming part of a cultural legacy, one that will leave behind a lasting tradition and enrich Guilin’s artistic heritage.
