The 6th ASEAN-China Media Week (ACMW) opened in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Sept 10. Over 600 participants attended the opening ceremony, including officials of the consulates general of ASEAN countries in Nanning, local government, and media representatives. Notably, more than 90 guests from 20 countries overseas participated in this event.
With the theme "More People-to-People Exchanges, Better Audio-visual Cooperation," the event highlighted the outcomes of audio-visual exchanges and collaboration from the 2019 ASEAN-China Year of Media Exchanges to the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges. The opening ceremony unveiled the top 10 cases of international communication in audio-visual media between ASEAN and China for the current year.
In addition to the opening ceremony, this year's ACMW is expected to feature six major events, including an audio-visual industry investment summit and the ASEAN-China Youth Hosts Camp (Season 4).
Since its establishment in 2019, the ACMW has held six sessions and organized 32 activities. It has invited 47 Chinese and ASEAN ministerial-level leaders to attend events and deliver speeches in both online and offline formats, with 36 resident ambassadors and consular officials from ASEAN countries attending the events.
Ten ASEAN countries have participated in the activities, with approximately 2,600 international industry elites, business leaders, experts, and scholars attending. Around 173 Chinese audio-visual works with 1,835 episodes have been broadcast in ASEAN countries in their respective languages, 48 cooperation agreements have been signed and implemented, 234 business negotiations have taken place, and three industry think tank reports have been published.
