Guangxi welcomes 482m tourists in H1, up 14.2% year-on-year

In the first half of this year, Guangxi attracted 482 million tourists, a 14.2 percent increase year-on-year and generating 502.46 billion yuan ($69.29 billion) in revenue, up 17.9 percent. 

To attract more visitors, Guangxi offered discounts on select scenic spots, star-rated hotels, and highway tolls, benefiting 4.08 million people and boosting spending by over 850 million yuan.

During this period, the region welcomed 516,600 overnight international tourists, a 409.2 percent rise, with international tourism revenue reaching $192 million, up 395.7 percent.

Additionally, 254 major cultural and tourism projects are currently under construction, with investments totaling 7.08 billion yuan. Guangxi has launched 45 high-quality inter-city tourism routes, offering discounts on entry tickets to some tourist attractions, star-rated hotels, and highway tolls and benefiting 4.08 million tourists. This initiative has boosted ticket sales by 110 million yuan and accommodation spending by 740 million yuan.

Efforts are also being made to advance the facilitation of inbound tourism payment services. So far, 2,621 new POS machines and 108 ATMs or exchange points have been added across the region.
