5 Guangxi cities witness tourism boom during Spring Festival holiday

The tourism industry of five cities in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has achieved remarkable results during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday from Feb 10 to 17.

Guilin, a traditional tourism city, received 7.51 million tourists, marking a 74.90 percent year-on-year increase. The city also achieved a total tourism revenue of 8.36 billion yuan ($1.16 billion), expanding 111.27 percent year-on-year.

Among these visitors were 2.21 million overnight tourists and 5.31 million day-trip tourists. Rural tours, leisure tours, gourmet shopping tours, and red-culture tourism became hotspots in the Guilin tourism market during the holiday.

Liuzhou received 6.04 million tourists, increasing by 41.4 percent year-on-year, and achieved revenue of 4.3 billion yuan, a comparable caliber year-on-year increase of 59.4 percent.

Once again, Liuzhou's water bus service ignited a "Spring Festival heatwave," welcoming 28,000 tourists, with the highest single-day tourist volume reaching 4,634 people.

Beihai received 4.13 million tourists, marking a 93.91 percent year-on-year increase and a 168.98 percent increase compared to 2019. The city also achieved tourism revenue of 4.38 billion yuan, showing a 169.08 percent year-on-year increase and a 175.91 percent increase compared to 2019.

In Yulin, various scenic spots organized a series of Chinese New Year-themed activities and introduced ticket discount promotions. As of Feb 17, the city received 3.8 million tourists during the holiday, marking a 20.9 percent year-on-year increase, surpassing the 2019 level by 106.3 percent. The city also achieved tourism revenue of 2.22 billion yuan, reflecting a 30.1 percent year-on-year increase, surpassing the 2019 level by 112.2 percent.

In addition, Baise launched 25 themed cultural and tourism activities, and several scenic spots introduced promotional activities. The city received a total of 2.81 million tourists, marking a 19.17 percent year-on-year increase, and achieved tourism revenue of 2.02 billion yuan, going up by 36.55 percent year-on-year.
