More than 40 foreign experts working in Guangxi from 17 countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, gathered in Nanning on Jan 20 for the 2024 Chinese New Year Celebration for Foreign Experts in Guangxi.

The event, hosted by the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, offered various activities featuring traditional Chinese culture, such as trying pitch-pots, writing calligraphy, and making paper-cut window decorations.

A Thai expert from the China-ASEAN Research Institute of Guangxi University noted that although the Spring Festival is not a traditional festival in Thailand, the festive, solid atmosphere in China also made her homesick.

Foreign experts in Guangxi are an important force in building the beautiful province. They actively promote innovation and facilitate exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries.

Guangxi has been actively providing foreign experts with platforms and conditions for innovation and entrepreneurship, aiming to create a regional talent agglomeration area and an international talent highland oriented towards the ASEAN.

Since 2018, Guangxi has approved nearly 6,600 work permits for foreigners, issued nearly 100 Confirmation Letters for Foreign High-End Talents, and recommended five outstanding foreign experts for the Friendship Award, the highest award to commend foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's modernization drive.
