According to Guilin Customs, the total import and export trade between Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and Vietnam amounted to 370 million yuan ($52 million) in the first 11 months of 2023.

Among them, Guilin's specialty fruits, such as citrus, grapes, persimmons, and sweet melons, are highly favored by Vietnamese consumers, with exports to Vietnam worth about 100 million yuan in the first 11 months of last year.

"In 2023, our enterprise exported 800 metric tons of citrus to Southeast Asian countries, and the orders for January this year have already reached around 250 tons," said Liang Yilan, the person in charge of Guangxi Nongken Guibei Farm.

The company mainly exports various types of citrus and has a 5,000-mu (333-hectare) fruit orchard base and an export packaging factory. They started exporting fruits to Vietnam and India in 2021.

After being loaded onto trucks, the fruit departs from Guilin and passes through the Guangxi Youyiguan border gate before entering Vietnam. The entire journey is carried out under cold chain conditions, and the fruit can be delivered to Vietnamese consumers in just two days.

Regarding the situation of a large number of newly added fruit orchards and packaging factories undergoing inspections and exports in Guilin, the Guilin Customs has formulated a comprehensive operational procedure, refined the service guidelines, and improved the efficiency of registration operations through proactive communication, systematic answers, and on-site guidance with enterprises.
