The 2023 Guangxi-Hong Kong Business Cooperation and Exchange Symposium was held in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Dec 21.
Wong Cheuk Yin, director of Hong Kong's Guangxi Liaison Unit, noted that there is immense potential for cooperation between Hong Kong and Guangxi in ASEAN's economic and trade sectors.
As the bridge between the governments of Guangxi and Hong Kong, Hong Kong's Guangxi Liaison Unit will continue to promote cooperation and facilitate economic and trade exchanges between the two regions, added Wong.
Hong Kong, backed by the Chinese mainland and connected to the world, serves as a gateway between the Chinese mainland and international markets. It is an international financial, shipping, and trade center, as well as the largest offshore renminbi hub. It also serves as an important node of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Guangxi, meanwhile, as a gateway between China and ASEAN, has been developing its economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN countries due to its unique geographical advantages.
"The agricultural and forestry industries of Guangxi align with the market demands of ASEAN countries, while Hong Kong focuses on the service industry, including finance, trade, and logistics. These industries can achieve mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions," said Wong.
