Thai envoy promotes deeper Thai-Chinese cooperation

The Consulate General of Thailand in Nanning held a reception on Dec 4 to celebrate Thailand's National Day, which takes place on Dec 5. 

Benjamas Tanvetyanont, the consul general of Thailand in Nanning, expressed that there is vast potential for Thai-Chinese cooperation. In addition to trade, Tanvetyanont hopes to expand cooperation between the two countries in areas of the digital economy, clean energy, new energy vehicles, and large-scale infrastructure investments.

She mentioned that the year 2023 will be another milestone in Thai-Chinese relations. The mutual visits between Thailand and China reflect the common need of both sides to achieve more substantial results in promoting cooperation. Currently, China is Thailand's largest trading partner and the largest source of foreign investment.

The envoy put forward that Guangxi is an important port for Thai fruits such as durian, mangosteen and longan to enter China.

From January to October 2023, Guangxi's imports and exports with ASEAN reached 272.69 billion yuan ($38.23 billion), a year-on-year increase of 32 percent. Of note, Guangxi's imports and exports with Thailand reached 33.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 49 percent.
