The 2023 ASEAN-China Media Forum was held in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Oct 23.
It brought together 300 experts, scholars, and industry representatives from China and ASEAN countries to discuss collaborative media innovation and development.
The forum is an important event of the fifth China-ASEAN Media Week. Other events include a one-on-one business negotiation meeting and an audiovisual exhibition.
Yang Xiaowei, deputy director of the National Radio and Television Administration, said that in recent years, the depth and breadth of cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the media field has been expanding, playing an active role in promoting people-to-people communication in the region.
He put forward that the National Radio and Television Administration is committed to leveraging the role of audiovisual media to contribute to the development of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
Chen Yijun, head of the Publicity Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, expressed that Guangxi, with its geographical proximity and close relations with ASEAN countries, has been deepening cooperation in the media field.
Chen added that China-ASEAN Media Week serves as a bridge for cultural exchanges. He also expressed the hope that Guangxi and ASEAN countries will deepen their collaboration, promote cultural exchanges, and lead the development of the media industry through technological innovation.
Cambodian officials mentioned that Guangxi and Cambodia have jointly produced numerous media works, and that this cooperation has opened a window for the Cambodian people to understand China.
During the forum, nine projects were signed, focusing on co-producing documentaries and films, creating animations, constructing a cross-border live broadcasting base, and organizing integrated media communication activities.
