The 10 winning plays from the Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theater Directors were staged at the National Theater of China between Aug 23 and 25.

Four of the 10 will also be staged during the Guilin Festival, which will be held from Oct 27 to Nov 5, in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

As one of the most important components of the festival, the Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theater Directors seeks to support young talent. Since opening for entries last December, it had over 300 applicants, who submitted 351 plays.

The four to be staged in Guilin include Black Goat, a play directed by Meng Run and Liu Ruoyi, which tells the story of a young train driver on the cross-border railway between China and Vietnam, and In Cold Blood, directed by Liu Guangyuan, which tells the story of a divorced couple reuniting after their son is killed in a car accident.

After Guilin, the four productions will tour nationally.
