A delegation of 32 Macao tourists arrived at Nanning Wuxu International Airport on Aug 7, becoming the first group of Macao tourists that Nanning airport has received since the full resumption of normal travel between the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
The delegation has embarked on a five-day tour in Guangxi, where they will visit places like Tianyang in Baise and Tianzhou ancient city to explore the historical and cultural origins of the Zhuang ethnic group in Guangxi.
According to a travel agency, this itinerary is very popular in Macao. Apart from the inaugural group, more than 120 people have already signed up for other tours departing on Aug 16, 21, and 28. The travel agency plans also launch more Guangxi tour routes for Macao residents to choose from.
The Nanning-Macao flight route was the only regional route in Guangxi that continued operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, there are two direct flights from Nanning to Macao every week, flying on Mondays and Fridays.
