The emerald-green forests, rising mist and odd-shaped mountains over the Lijiang River, in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, have joined in a visual symphony of colors and forms, hailing one of the most thrillingly beautiful places on the Earth.

For years, ink artist Yang Guang, who grew up and lives by the Lijiang River, has been exploring to depict the poetic, mysterious atmosphere there which keeps attracting visitors from home and abroad. He approaches to those strange rocks, centuries-old trees and beautiful flowers with a semi-abstract style of brushwork, of which the moist dabs present the humidity, the bright rays and the spirituality of Lijiang scenery.

Yang has brought his such works to his one-man show at the National Art Museum of China through to Aug 15. He doesn't directly depict Lijiang but the impressions of it, by which his output conveys the spirit to connect human and nature, the whole universe of Chinese ink tradition.
