The economic and trade conference between the Guangxi Chamber of International Commerce and the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Guangzhou was held on July 6 in Nanning. Nearly 50 enterprise representatives gathered to carry out economic and trade cooperation and exchanges.

With help from the Belt and Road Initiative, China was able to participate in many major investment projects in Uzbekistan in 2022. The number of Chinese-funded enterprises in Uzbekistan also increased to more than 2,000 in that year.

Otabek Valiev, consul general of Uzbekistan in Guangzhou, said that Uzbekistan is interested in expanding its inter-regional cooperation with Guangxi, especially in the construction of modern complexes for the cultivation and processing of agricultural products. It would also like to expand cooperation channels to build industrial clusters for the new building materials sector.

A representative of the consulate noted that Uzbekistan is willing to supply high-quality agricultural products, such as fresh and processed fruits and vegetables to the Guangxi market. They also expressed the hope that representatives from Guangxi enterprises would visit Uzbekistan to promote bilateral cooperation.

Enterprises that participated in the conference also conducted exchanges with representatives from Uzbekistan on the import and export of agricultural products; halal food processing; energy and power; import and export channels; and trade policies.
