Magnolias in Xintang village, in Maling town, in the city of Hengzhou, have burst into full blossom since May and villagers have been busy picking them.

The glorious flowers are small in size, with long petals and a fragrant, heady smell. They can be used in a variety of ways - such as in ornamental decorations, as well as making scented flower tea and refining oil - which are popular among customers.

The magnolia flower industry is a pillar one in Xintang, with the village currently having a total planting area of around 600 mu (40 hectares) that generates an annual income of around 4 million yuan ($563,420).
