Ten new global passenger and cargo transportation routes between Guangxi and Vietnam have opened recently, officials of the Transport Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced on Feb 13.

To date, the number of international passenger and cargo transportation routes between Guangxi and Vietnam to have gained mutual recognition has increased from 20 in 2011 to the current 30.

Five of the 10 new routes will start from the Guangxi cities of Nanning, Chongzuo, and Fangchenggang.

In addition, Guangxi's Aidian Checkpoint and Vietnam's Chi Ma Border Checkpoint have been partnered with each other for international road transportation, becoming the fifth of its kind between Guangxi and Vietnam.

Guangxi and Vietnam are connected both by land and sea, with the region having a relative long border line. Checkpoints in Guangxi, such as Youyiguan and Dongxing, are all convenient passages for China to access ASEAN countries.

Guangxi has been making full use its unique geographic advantages in teaming with Vietnam to explore a new border development and opening-up model.
