Thailand aims high in cooperation with Guangxi under RCEP

A reception was held by the Consulate General of Thailand in Nanning on Dec 2 to mark the National Day of Thailand which fell on Dec 5, inviting ASEAN envoys and representatives from Guangxi.

Benjamas Tanvetyanont, Thailand's consul-general in Nanning, said the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has brought numerous opportunities for economic and trade cooperation between Thailand and China, with the former looking forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with Guangxi in areas such as investment and trade, agriculture, digital economy and new energy vehicles.

She added that the acceleration of construction of projects such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Pinglu Canal has also brought lots of cooperation potential between the two sides, and Thailand will expand its cooperation with Guangxi to improve people's livelihoods. 

Thailand has maintained good momentum in terms of getting its economy back on track, with many of its economic, trade and tourism events gradually returning to pre-pandemic levels. The country saw its GDP climb 4.5 percent in the third quarter of 2022. 

Guangxi officials attending the event noted that the region is a major gateway of the Belt and Road Initiative and a frontier and window for China-ASEAN cooperation. Guangxi in recent years has been devoting great efforts to carrying out friendly cooperation with Thailand and has formed a deep friendship to pursue the mutual development of trade, technology, culture and education.

It was also announced that Guangxi will team up with Thailand in eyeing future development and cooperation, further promoting the deep friendship between the two countries.
