The plaque unveiling ceremony of the Guangxi International Sister Cities Alliance on Vocational Education was held on Nov 30 in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, with the aim of further promoting Guangxi's vocational education overseas.

Thirty-seven vocational schools of 15 Guangxi's sister cities in 10 countries including Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, Greece, Australia and Gambia joined the alliance as did 22 vocational schools in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

These schools cover various fields such as information technology, industrial skills, railway manufacturing, civil construction, agriculture and forestry, finance and economics, business management, hotel management and education and training.

The alliance is the first of its kind as a cooperation mechanism with sister cities that Guangxi has established. The number of the region's sister cities has been increasing since 1979 and the region has now forged sister-city ties with 125 cities in 38 countries, ranking fourth in China.
