Guangxi farmers celebrate harvest festival in Baise

Residents in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region celebrated the fourth Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, a national event for farmers, in Baise's Youjiang district.

Exhibitions and promotional events for agricultural products, interesting races, rural sightseeing tours, study tours and food tastings were held during the festival, showcasing the new images of rural areas and the latest development in agriculture.

The interesting races were the most popular events among the farmers, in which consisted of 12 races such as fish catching, dragon boat racing, guessing lantern riddles and bamboo pole dancing.

The rural complex named "Fu Lu Zhuang Xiang" (Blessed Zhuang Ethnic County) was the venue for the celebration. It is a demonstrative area for rural vitalization built by Youjiang district on the basis of local natural landscapes and advantageous resources.

The complex has now formulated an industrial pattern featuring high-quality grain, vegetables, fruit, processing of agricultural products, tourism and rehabilitation. It is expected to generate 77.8 million yuan ($10,957) this year, benefiting 1,629 locals in 444 households, who have just been lifted out of poverty.
