The Guangxi event for promoting the 51st World Environment Day was held in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on June 5.

Officials put forward that the region will push forward the comprehensive green transformation of its socio-economic development and pave a green development path with distinctive Guangxi characteristics during the 12th CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Congress in November 2021.

Li Chu, mayor of Guilin, noted that the city will make full use of this event to implement the notion that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" to fully promote its ecological civilization development efforts. The city will also strive to be a world-leading example of ecological protection. 

Three exhibition areas and four science popularization areas were set up that day, showcasing Guilin's achievements in ecological protection, local biodiversity, and its achievements in renovating the Lijiang River.
