During the recent Labor Day holiday, which fell from April 30 to May 4, 72,500 people visited Pingle county in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, increasing 18.07 percent year on year. The total tourism consumption increased by 20.54 percent to 68.83 million yuan ($10.28 million). 

In recent years, the county has promoted outdoor sports and developed an industrial chain that includes sports and tourism. The opening of national-level sports events such as the 2021 Rowing Master Regatta and the 2021 Fencing Open Competition has encouraged local economic development and increased the county's influence.

"Outdoor sports can not only help us exercise, but also give us the chance to enjoy the natural environment. I hope that Pingle can hold more outdoor sports events," said Li Wenjun, a marathon enthusiast.
