The first chartered high-speed train loaded with medical personnel from Guangxi departed from Nanning East Railway Station for Shanghai on April 18 and arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station after a 12-hour ride to support the local fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.

A total of 700 medical staff members from cities including Nanning, Laibin, Liuzhou and Guilin formed the third batch of medical teams that have been sent to Shanghai and the first two batches of 560 members left for Shanghai on April 15 and 17.

The team is formed by doctors and nurses in departments including internal medicine, clinical medicine, pediatrics, critical care, nosocomial infection management, nursing and public health. Medical materials were also loaded on the train.

Staff members from China Railway Nanning Group noted that green channels were opened for team members to check-in to minimize cross interference with other passengers.
