On March 19, a batch of export cross-border e-commerce goods worth 1.62 million yuan ($254,408) was loaded and departed from Qinzhou Port. This was the first cross-border e-commerce commodity in Guangxi to be transported on the sea through the new western land-sea multimodal transport channel.

Recently, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, air and land exports have been blocked. Nanning customs has planned to give full play to the role of cross-border e-commerce, guiding enterprises to make full use of the preferential policies in the comprehensive bonded zone and helping enterprises open up new channels for cross-border e-commerce exports to ASEAN.

This new e-commerce multimodal export logistics channel makes full use of Qinzhou Port's geographical advantage. Qinzhou Port is the sea-land meeting point of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, with port routes connecting 311 ports in 106 countries and regions around the world.

Lu Changshen, a staff member of the Guangxi branch of China Post, said, "Sea transportation has the advantages of large capacity, low prices, and stable travel. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the transportation of cross-border e-commerce goods by sea saves about two days compared to traditional road transportation and cuts costs by about 60 to 70 percent compared to air transportation."
