During an online seminar hosted by the International Urban and Regional Cooperation China (IURC China) on March 4, Liuzhou, which is located in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, highlighted its experience in enhancing tourism through cultural heritages.

The seminar welcomed cities from China and the European Union to share their experiences in green and smart cultural tourism transformation for the post-pandemic period.

The production method for making Liuzhou river snail rice noodles was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2021 and the whole industrial chain has now achieved a total value of over 50 billion yuan ($8 billion).

The city has been applying the concept of industrialization in promoting the upgrading and development of this local delicacy. A batch of scenic places containing the delicacy, such as Luowei Liuzhou River Snail Rice Noodle Industrial Park, have been designated as national 4A-level scenic areas, and a batch of cultural tourism items, such as themed WeChat programs and cultural tourist routes, have been released.
