The 2021 Global Port Development Report issued by the Shanghai International Shipping Institute showed that the container throughput of Beibu Gulf Port, with Qinzhou Port as the main port, increased significantly. For the first time, it entered the top 30 global ports, ranking 28th, rising six places from 2020.
Last year, the global trade demand increased. The cargo throughput of Beibu Gulf Port reached 360 million metric tons and its container throughput reached 6.01 million twenty-feet equivalent units (TEUs), ranking first among major coastal ports in China in terms of growth rate.
In addition, the overall customs clearance time of Qinzhou Port's imports and exports was reduced by 26.71 percent and 21.05 percent respectively last year, with the customs clearance of exports completed in half an hour. Qinzhou Port's annual port cargo throughput reached 167 million tons last year, a year-on-year increase of 22.3 percent, while its container throughput reached 4.63 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent.
