Ten high-speed railway cargo terminals in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will finish their first-phase construction by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, according to an announcement made by officials from the Transport Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Feb 9.

Guangxi ranks among the top countrywide in terms of operating mileage of high-speed railways, which stood at nearly 1,800 kilometers by the end of 2021. Twelve of Guangxi's cities have access to high-speed trains reaching 21 other provinces, autonomous regions, or municipalities within a single day.

The implementation plan for the development of Guangxi's high-speed railway cargo transport released by the Transport Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and China Railway Nanning Group put forward that the handling capacity of high-speed railway cargo transport will exceed 500,000 pieces by 2023, go over 1.5 million in 2025, and 1.18 billion in 2035.

These 10 terminals, located in cities such as Nanning, Liuzhou, Guilin, Yulin, and Beihai, will lure more companies in managing sectors spanning e-commerce, delivery, warehouse, commerce, and trade to create an ecosphere high-speed railway cargo transport. The positions of Nanning, Liuzhou, and Guilin have been set as high-end railway cargo transport hubs.
