Beihai in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will devote its efforts to developing green chemical industry, electronic information, new materials and high-end equipment manufacturing, high-end glass and photovoltaic materials, high-end paper making, and energy in 2022 as local officials announced on Jan 25.

Beihai achieved rapid and sound development in 2021 despite difficulties brought by the lack of coal, electricity, chips, and labor forces with a 10.2 percent growth in its industrial added value above designated size, an 11.1 percent increase in fixed-asset investment, and a 55.1 percent growth in industrial investment.

The city is expected to achieve an 11.5 percent growth in industrial added value above designated size in 2022 with the target for fixed-asset investment increase set to be 10 percent.

It will further optimize its marine industry system and push forward the construction of a batch of major industrial projects in the aforementioned six industries.

Local officials put forward that Beihai will grasp opportunities brought in by national regional development strategies such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hainan Free Trade Port, and Beibu Gulf city cluster to become a demonstrative city featuring marine economy.
