Dongxing in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has been taking an active role in formulating an opening-up and cooperation mechanism along the border, local officials announced during a press conference held on Jan 26.

The city is expected to achieve rapid development in six cross-border industries, namely trade, tourism, processing, finance, e-commerce, and logistics, striving to build a 30-billion-yuan ($5-billion) industrial cluster for deep processing at the China-Vietnam border.

Dongxing Checkpoint has applied various measures, such as making declarations in advance, to shorten the average clearance time for imported cargo to 0.44 hour and the time to process exported cargo to 36 seconds.

Dongxing handled 70 cabinets of imported border trade cargo by sea in 2021, weighing 1,798 metric tons, worth a total value of 46.71 million yuan.

The number of vehicles entering or leaving the Chinese border via Dongxing Checkpoint reached 134,280 last year, up 49.29 percent year-on–year, and transported a total of 977,900 tons of cargo, an increase of 16.02 percent.
