Guangxi's Chongzuo reports 1 new COVID-19 case

Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region reported one locally transmitted COVID-19 case on Jan 16, as well as three confirmed imported cases and five imported asymptomatic cases. Forty-five close contacts were placed under medical observation.

The case was discovered during a routine nucleic acid test taken in Dibian township, Aidian town in Chongzuo's Ningming county before dawn on Jan 16.

The confirmed case is a 51-year-old female who lives on Heping Avenue of Heping community in Ningming. She was further tested by the Chongzuo center for disease control and prevention at noon on that day as an asymptomatic case. She was then transferred to a designated treatment center in Chongzuo to receive treatment in isolation.

The case's 23 close contacts, 121 secondary close contacts, and 80 environmental samples were tested, with two environmental samples testing positive.

As of 6:30 pm on Jan 16, Aidian town has tested 4,313 people and 1,021 results have been returned, all negative. 

Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region now has 16 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and one asymptomatic case. The number of confirmed imported cases stands at 215 and that of imported asymptomatic cases is 162.
