Qinzhou is an ancient city in the Lingnan area (south of the Five Ridges) with a history of 1,400 years and profound cultural essence. It was one of the departure ports to the Maritime Silk Route in ancient times; it is the hometown of national heroes Feng Zicai and Liu Yongfu; it is honored for being "Excellent Tourism City of China"; and is renowned as "Home of Litchi", "Home of Buffalo", "Home of Oyster" and "Home of Nixing Pottery" in China. As one of the four most renowned Chinese potteries, Nixing pottery of Qinzhou won a gold medal on the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco, America.

At present, expressways and high-speed railways to sea and border are being constructed, of which seven railways and five expressways will be intersected in Qinzhou. They will connect with the networks of national trunk railways, Trans-Asian Railways, and highways in Southwest, Central South and South China. Qinzhou Port is a natural deep-water port.
