China's hydrogen fuel engine, which was developed by Yuchai Group, also made its debut the same day. The YCK05 hydrogen fuel engine for commercial vehicles has now achieved stable operational performance with its effective thermal efficiency that is comparable to hydrogen cells. The YCK15 hydrogen fuel engine will start being used in heavy trucks in the first half of 2022.
Officials from Yuchai Group noted that the group is striving to become a domestic industrial champion by 2025 and be an industrial leader by 2030.
