The Longzhou section of Chongzuo-Pingxiang Railway construction project has made rapid progress, local media outlets reported on Dec 15.

With a total length of 81 kilometers and a design speed of 250 km per hour, the Chongzuo-Pingxiang Railway is the second section of the Nanjing-Pingxiang intercity railway. It started construction in 2021 and is scheduled to be put into operation in 2025.

The first section of Chongzuo-Pingxiang Railway is 6.46 km long, with one bridge and one tunnel. At present, more than 70 percent of the pile foundation of the 4.59-km bridge has been completed, and construction of the 1.84-km tunnel is ahead of schedule.

Currently, all construction units have deployed about 3,000 people and more than 500 heavy machines into work.

Upon the operation of the Chongzuo-Pingxiang Railway, the whole journey from Nanning to Pingxiang will only take a little over one hour, which is a great boost in accelerating the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
