Thailand is ready to welcome overseas businessmen, investors and tourists, Benjamas Tanvetyanont, the consul general of Thailand in Nanning, said on Dec 1.

A reception was held the same day in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, to celebrate the National Day of Thailand, which fell on Dec 5.

The consul general said that Thailand has been officially opened to foreigners since Nov 1 with strict and all-round COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures.

She added that Thailand and China share similar cultures and have carried out close cooperation in various sectors. The two countries will work closely in areas such as economic revival and public health emergency response.

Guangxi is the gateway for China's opening-up to ASEAN, and brings huge cooperation potential for Guangxi and Thailand, she said.

The trade volume between Thailand and Guangxi in the first 10 months of 2021 reached 44.64 billion yuan ($7 billion), which is an increase of 46.8 percent year on year.
