The 2021 China (Lipu) Orchid Expo and the fifth Lipu Taro Cultural Festival will take place in Lipu from Dec 17 to 19, officials announced during a press conference on Dec 3.

Around 800 pots of orchids will be showcased at this year's China (Lipu) Orchid Expo, which will cover a total area of more than 3,000 square meters. 

Lipu is a county-level city located in south Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and has a long history and a profound culture. Three of the most representative agricultural products in Lipu, namely taro, water chestnuts and sugar oranges, have won national geographical certification honors.

The plantation area of the three aforementioned representative agricultural products in Lipu reached 380,000 mu (25,333 hectares), and their total annual output value exceeds 3.5 billion yuan ($549 million).

In recent years, the orchid, ganoderma, and dendrobium industries have provided new paths for local farmers to earn prosperous incomes. The orchid plantation area in Lipu is over 5,000 mu and the annual sales revenue has surpassed 500 million yuan.
