The 4th China-ASEAN (China-Laos) Higher Education Cooperation Forum took place both in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vientiane, capital of Laos on Nov 26, gathering over 70 experts and scholars from the sector in China and Laos.
The event also marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos.
The forum was jointly hosted by the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the National University of Laos, and aimed to promote communication and experience sharing in education between the two countries and establish a platform for China-Laos higher education cooperation.
Pressing issues such as building a China-Laos community with a shared future and Guangxi's role in China-ASEAN higher education cooperation were discussed during the event.
Wu Chunhui, deputy head of the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that Guangxi has been carrying out close communication with Laos in education and the annual number of Laotian students seeking education in Guangxi has been around 1,500 in recent years, ranking third among ASEAN overseas students studying in Guangxi.
Wu added that higher education institutes in Guangxi have established long-term cooperation relationships with parties such as universities, government departments and companies in Laos for higher education and vocational education programs.
