Longsheng county welcomes 70th birthday

Longsheng county in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region celebrated its 70th anniversary on Nov 19.

Lei Chen, Party secretary of Longsheng, said that the county has paved the way for a new historical future due to its prosperous economic and social development in the past seven decades.

The operation of Guilin-Sanjiang Expressway has connected Longsheng with the one-hour economic circle in Guilin.

The regional GDP of Longsheng stands at 6.04 billion yuan ($946.17 million) in 2020, which is 1.77 times the regional GDP in 2011. The per capita net income of rural residents in the county expanded by 2.73 times from 2011 to 13,931 yuan this year. Its per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 36,000 yuan in 2020, which is 1.93 times the figure from 2011's total.

The county's urbanization rate increased to 35.4 percent in 2020 and all 45,200 rural impoverished people have been lifted out of poverty.

The excellent air quality rate of the county has now reached 99.7 percent and the forest coverage rate stands at 82.36 percent, and efforts are continuing to be made to protect the local ecological environment. 

Huang Qiang, head of Longsheng county, said that Longsheng will continue to focus on its high-quality development in an all-round way and strive to become a pioneer in turning Guilin into a world-class tourism city.

Activities such as a celebration gala and a folk cultural exhibition as well as painting and calligraphy exhibitions have been held to fully showcase Longsheng's charm and achievements.
