Yangshuo kumquat to officially enter market on Double 11

The kumquat from Guilin's Yangshuo county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will officially enter this year's market on Nov 11, officials announced during a press conference on Nov 8. 

Yangshuo county is a prestigious tourist attraction for people from all over the world and is a core plantation area for tangerines. The local kumquat industry has achieved leapfrog development in the past three decades and has become an industrial pioneer in China. The Yangshuo kumquat became a national geographical indication protection product in 2006.

As of now, the plantation area and the annual output value of kumquats in Yangshuo accounted for 55 percent and 65 percent, respectively, meriting Yangshuo the title of "China's biggest kumquat county."

The brand value of the Yangshuo kumquat has reached 4.14 billion ($647.33 million) yuan in 2021. It has become one of the pillar industries in Yangshuo county and many local farmers have benefited a great deal from the industry.

To ensure the quality of Yangshuo kumquats, local governments have applied strict inspection measures on kumquats before they can officially enter the market.
