Xiangkou Primary School is located in Xiangkou Village of Daxin County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, near the China-Vietnam border.
After graduating in 1986, 24-year-old Xu Sihong returned to the village and began working as a rural teacher. Xu will retire in February after 35 years of service.
The infrastructure at Xiangkou Primary School was once deplorable. The funds were then raised by Xu to improve the campus environment. He also convened teachers to discuss and revise teaching methods in order to improve teaching quality.
The school currently has 11 students and 3 teachers. Xu hopes that more people will devote themselves to education in order to give children in border areas a better future.
