China, ASEAN to deepen environmental cooperation

The ASEAN-China High Level Forum on Green and Sustainable Development and ASEAN-China Environment Cooperation Forum 2021 commenced both online and on-site in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Oct 25.

After setting up a main forum and four parallel sub-forums, the event has gathered more than 300 representatives from China and ASEAN governments, relevant international organizations, research institutions and companies. 

Attendees of the event also included Zhao Yingmin, deputy head of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Lim Jock Hoi, secretary-general of ASEAN.

Latest achievements in China's ecological civilization construction and environmental protection were showcased at the event and Chinese officials said that China is willing to team with ASEAN countries in boosting cooperation in the sector and inject new vitality into regional low-carbon green development. 

Attendees all spoke highly of the fruitful results achieved by the event in the past decade and expressed their hope that the forum could be given full play to further promote the concept of a green development partnership.

The year 2021 marks the China-ASEAN Year of Sustainable Development and this forum is one of the 19 series of events this year.
