The total import and export volume of Guangxi reached 392.89 billion yuan ($60.72 billion) in the first eight months of 2021, officials from the Commerce Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced on Sept 20.

The region's overall foreign trade volume with member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) from January to August expanded by 31.4 percent year on year to 216.1 billion yuan.

The foreign trade volume between Guangxi and ASEAN in the first eight months increased by 32.4 percent to 189.16 billion yuan, accounting for 48.4 percent of Guangxi's total, making ASEAN Guangxi's largest trading partner.

Officials from the Nanning Customs said that the rapid construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor has contributed a lot to Guangxi's foreign trade growth.

Yang Chunting, director of the Commerce Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that the region will release relevant supporting policies for key foreign trade companies to accelerate the growth of new foreign trade forms such as cross-border e-commerce and marketing purchase.

"We will also take an active part in carrying out matchmakings with nearby areas in Middle and West China to attract more companies to settle down in Guangxi for foreign trade business," Yang added.
